A cool way to organize books

Tip of the Week to share with parents

Here’s a big trick teachers know!

Instead of just shelving books at random, try grouping them by theme, author, or series.  Put them in shoe boxes, or inexpensive containers from IKEA.  That way, the collection won’t appear overwhelming to your child and he will better be able to pick out what he wants to read.

Here are some categories to consider

  • Adventure
  • Fantasy
  • Science Fiction
  • Mysteries
  • Sports
  • Animals
  • Poetry
  • Newberry Award Winners
  • Non Fiction History
  • Non Fiction Science
  • A to Z Mysteries
  • A Series of Unfortunate Events
  • The Boxcar Children
  • Beverly Cleary
  • Star Wars
  • Magic Treehouse
