(An origami frog full of potential energy, just like my son.)
One of the saddest things Bruce(6) ever said to me happened one day last summer when we were driving in the car. “I wish I had a science teacher Mom. My only science teacher is the TV.”
What??? Does this child not remember all of the science kits his father and I have plunked down money on over the years and carefully helped him complete? But truth be told, while I love teaching language arts, history, and math, science is a not my primary focus. I really wanted to change this, especially since Bruce is so interested in science. Luckily, I came across a homeschool blog where the mother (who is a former teacher) has created a wonderful, secular science curriculum for her children. She calls it Science Without a Net. I think it is going to fit in perfectly with what I was looking to do with Bruce on an Afterschooling basis.
